What are the activities planned for the mid-August Ascension Day holiday in Maremma?
For those looking for an experience deeply embedded in the culture of our territory, the Rodeo della Rosa is held in Alberese, testing the skills of Maremma cowboys. The Palio Marinaro (Sailing competition) is held every year (this year being no exception) in Castiglione della Pescaia, pitting the town’s five districts against each other.
Once the Ascension Day holiday has passed, summer in Maremma is coloured by other activities such as the musical and literary events held in the town of Capalbio. Thus “Capalbio in Jazz” is held on 17 August while there is a discussion every evening in the town square between journalists, authors and writers on new developments in the world of books.
On 19 August there is a historical reconstruction taking place near La Cianella, involving the whole town, every corner of Scarlino becomes a theatrical set, taking it back in time. The competition between the three districts begins in the morning and concludes at midnight. Taken as a whole it is a truly amazing event – see you there!
